Good Neighbour

Purpose of this Policy

  • To provide members, residents, guests, and visitors with a guideline for peaceful living in keeping with the Good Neighbour Policy.

Policy:

  1. A member will not deliberately or knowingly permit or keep anything or anyone in their unit that will directly or indirectly impact other members’ safety, health, or personal enjoyment of their unit. A member shall also not create a legal or financial liability for Ford Road Housing Co-op.

  2. Members are to be considerate of their neighbours at all times. Co-op quiet hours are from 9:00 pm to 7:00 am, Monday through Sunday. This is in line with municipal bylaws.

  3. The member will not permit any person living in or visiting the unit to use the unit in any way or engage in conduct which interferes with or disturbs other members’ quiet and peaceful enjoyment of the co-op or unreasonably interferes with other members of the Co-op by sound, odor, conduct or any other activity.

Procedures:

  1. Where possible, the member shall first talk to the offending member regarding the issue to see if the complaint can be resolved.

  2. If a resolution is not forthcoming under procedure #1, the member must complete a “Member Complaint Form” and submit it to the Dispute Resolution Committee concerning their issue.

  3. The Dispute Resolution Committee will review the matter and make a recommendation. This will be presented to the Board of Directors for ratification, then both members will be informed of the decision and what action will be taken.

  4. If the Dispute Resolution Committee is unable to address the concern due to lack of committee members or inactivity of the committee, the Board of Directors will take direct action.
